In the Senior Cycle, career guidance becomes more important. Each 5th and 6th Year has a weekly class with the Guidance Counsellor. There are aptitude tests done in Transition Year and results given back on an individual basis. 5th and 6th years have personal interviews with their Guidance Counsellor. Pupils are encouraged to research careers that are of interest to them. There are visits to Open Days at Third Level Colleges and representatives from the colleges give talks about the courses on offer. Past pupils talk to students about their courses and present work. Information meetings are held for parents to help them to understand the various application systems: CAO, UCAS, FAS. Failte Ireland and Colleges of Further Education, etc.

Anseo i Meánscoil Lughaidh, cuirtear béim láidir ar labhairt na teanga. Glacann na daltaí páirt i ndíospóireachtaí agus in oráidíocht sa Cheathrú Bliain. Is minic a bhíonn tráthanna na gceist i ngaeilge ann freisin. I mí an Mhárta bíonn Seachtain na Gaeilge ann agus is iomaí imeacht a bhíonn ar siúl idir dhrámaí agus cheolchoirmeacha. Is minic a chaitheann daltaí tréimhsí sa Ghaeltacht ag feabhsú a “mblas”. Cuirtear beim freisin ar ard chaighdeán sa Ghaeilge scríofa. Éirionn leis na himeachtaí seo go léir aird an dalta a dhíriú ar shaibhreas na teanga agus ar an gcultúr Gaelach.
