St. Louis First Year students and the LET Programme
10 St. Louis First Year students participated in the LET programme in Lisnaskea from November 28th - 30th.
The LET Programme (Learning and Educating Together) is a project jointly delivered by Young Enterprise Northern Ireland and Junior Achievement Ireland. The programme was launched in October 2004 targeting young people aged between 12-13 years old. 10 St. Louis students have been chosen to take part in this programme.
The programme combines enterprise modules and outdoor activities. It will also introduce students to the basic entrepreneurial skills, giving them a broader perspective on what is enterprise.
The LET Programme involves schools north and south of the border. It also promotes peace and reconciliation between young people from both communities in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland.
The St. Louis students who will be participating in the programme will meet with the students from other participating schools three times in the year for a residential course at the Share Centre in Lisnaskea.
During their period of residency, students participate in a series of programmes that focus on:
~ Peace and reconciliation with an emphasis on creating an understanding of different cultures
~ Learning communication skills
~ Exploring the environment and how a respect for the environment impacts on the economy
~ Business start up and the role of small business
~ Personal finance and budgeting
This is a very exciting initiative and we are delighted to be participating in it.
