St Louis Pioneer Club
The pioneer
club was set up in the school in September 2006
by Ms Dooley. We try to encourage that students
do not take alcohol or illegal drugs until they
are at least 18.The main aim of the pioneer club
is to provide activities and events that are
supervised and do not include alcohol. It is a
great way of getting to know other students in
the school. Application forms were given out to
anyone who wished to join the pioneer club. At
present there around 300 members in the school.
Application forms are always available and must
be returned along with 6euro to cover the cost
of the pin and prayer.
In October
2006 we were invited to attend a pioneer disco
organised by Carrickmacross pioneer group. Ms
Dooley organised the bus and 50 students
attended. Many thanks to Ms. Mc Gee, Ms. Hurson
and Ms. Dooley who were on the bus and Ms Mc
Caffery and Ms Conlan who attended the disco to
help supervise. All who attended had a great
night.
On Friday the
23rd March 2007 our club organised a disco in St
Macartan's Hall Monaghan Town. This was another
very successful event with students from St
Macartans and Beechhill attending. Around 100
members attended the disco. The DJ was DJ
Shorty. Again everyone had a great night and
many thanks to all involved.
It is hoped this year to continue are success of
last year. We are hoping to hold another disco
in the New Year, a table quiz before Christmas
and a daytrip sometime in between.
Finally, I
wish everyone the best in their new year and
thanks to Ms Dooley for her continued work in
organising the pioneer club. For more
information please contact Ms. Dooley or myself
Pioneer President, St. Louis Rang Nollaig.
