St. Louis First Year student Rhia Nar has qualified for the All Ireland Final of Poetry Ireland. This is a phenomenal achievement for a First Year student. Rhia is a past student of St Dympna’s National School in Tydavnet. She is also a member of the Rossmore School of Speech and Drama. Rhia was the only student from Co. Monaghan to qualify for the All Ireland Final. The final takes place on Friday 1st December in the national Library of Ireland , Kildare street in Dublin. The Poetry Aloud competition, organised by the National Library of Ireland and Poetry Ireland, is an annual poetry speaking contest for post-primary school students across the island of Ireland. There were more than 1,800 entries this year, from 118 schools that took part in 18 regional heats.Promoting Poetry Aloud is a key component of the Literacy Oracy Strategies in St. Louis Secondary School.
