Basketballer Alex Mulligan is on fire.
The month of February has been a memorable month for our 5th year student Alex Mulligan. The talented Basketballer has recently tasted sweet success with St. Louis Secondary School’s u19 Basketball team who won the All Ireland League final. While this was a phenomenal team effort by all players, Alex was instrumental in this victory and was awarded with the MVP award following her fantastic display in the final quarters.
On the very evening her team brought back the cup to a delighted crowd in Halla San Lughaidh, Alex received news that she has now made the final 16 of the Irish U18 Women’s Basketball squad. A few months previous she was announced in the final 22 and has worked tirelessly to ensure her position in the final 16. This is a tremendous achievement for the young student who will now up her training even further to make the final squad of just 12 players.
Having already received 2 caps for her international involvement with the U18 ladies 3v3 team and the U17 ladies Irish team this year, Alex appears to be unstoppable. She now faces a tough training regime over the coming months in preparation for the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championships next Summer.
Alex continues to do her school, her club-University Ulster Elks, and her family proud and is sheer proof that with hard work, dedication and a positive attitude that anything is possible.
We at St. Louis want to again extend our congratulations to the talented student who continuously brings pride to our school. Well done Alex and all the very best to you in the coming months.
