St. Louis fundraises for Rett Syndrome Ireland

March 21, 2018

On Friday last 16th March St. Louis Secondary School went green for St Patrick’s Day. This venture was organized by the Coiste to raise funds for Rett Syndrome Ireland at the request of Sinead Mc Phillips, a third year student whose sister  Shauna suffers from this condition.

Rett syndrome is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder resulting in physical and intellectual disability. It affects girls almost exclusively – affecting one in ten thousand births – but there are rare cases of boys with Rett Syndrome. Everyone affected is severely and multiply disabled.

On the 16th March all students and staff were encouraged to wear one item of green clothing and the Thomas Meagher flag pins were also sold. Over €700 was collected for his very worthy cause and the Coiste members with Ms .Mc Caffrey are pictured presenting the cheque to Sinead Mc Phillips.
